Antiaging Nutrients
Dietary Reference Intakes: Vitamin A, Vitamin K, Arsenic, Boron, Choromium, Copper, Iodine, Iron, Manganese, Molybdenum, Nickel, Silicon, Vanadiu by National Academy Press, The Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) are reference values that are quantitative estimates of nutrient intakes to be used for planning and assessing diets for apparently healthy people. This volume of DRIs includes vitamins A and K, iron, iodine, chromium, copper, manganese, molybdenum, zinc, and other potentially beneficial trace elements in human physiology and health. This volume presents what is known about how these nutrients function in the human body, what the best method is to determine the requirement of these nutrients, which factors may affect how these nutrients are utilized and therefore affect their requirement, and how these nutrients may be related to the prevention of chronic disease. Based on analysis of nutrient metabolism and analysis of data related to nutrient requirements and intakes of humans, recommended intakes for each age group -- from the first days of life through childhood, sexual maturity, midlife, and later years -- are proposed. This volume also identifies Tolerable Upper Intake Levels, which, if consumed consistently, may result in adverse health effects. Dietary Reference Intakes represents a new paradigm for the nutrition community.
Clean Coastal Waters: Understanding and Reducing the Effects of Nutrient Pollution by National Research Council, Environmental problems in coastal ecosystems can sometimes be attributed to excess nutrients flowing from upstream watersheds into estuarine settings. This nutrient over-enrichment can result in toxic algal blooms, shellfish poisoning, coral reef destruction, and other harmful outcomes. All U.S. coasts show signs of nutrient over-enrichment, and scientists predict worsening problems in the years ahead. Clean Coastal Waters explains technical aspects of nutrient over-enrichment and proposes both immediate local action by coastal managers and a longer-term national strategy incorporating policy design, classification of affected sites, law and regulation, coordination, and communication. Highlighting the Gulf of Mexico's "Dead Zone", the Pfiesteria outbreak in a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay, and other cases, the book explains how nutrients work in the environment, why nitrogen is important, how enrichment turns into over-enrichment, and why some environments are especially susceptible. Economic as well as ecological impacts are examined. In addressing abatement strategies, the committee discusses the importance of monitoring sites, developing useful models of over-enrichment, and setting water quality goals. The book also reviews voluntary programs, mandatory controls, tax incentives, and other policy options for reducing the flow of nutrients from agricultural operations and other sources.
Gut loading - Gut loading is the process by which an animal's prey is raised and fed nutritious foods with the intention of passing those nutrients to the animal when the prey is eaten. For example, crickets bred for frog food are often dusted with calcium or other nutrients, including fat and protein, so as to supplement the frog's diet. Cover crop - In agriculture, a cover crop is any plant grown to protect land from soil erosion and leaching of nutrients. Unused farmland that is left bare can lose topsoil and nutrients through the effects of wind and rain. Enriched flour - Enriched flour is flour with nutrients added to it. According to the FDA, a pound of enriched flour must have the following quantities of nutrients to qualify: 2. Easy Hydroponics Feeding - There are many things that can complicate feeding your plants hydroponically. It can be hard enough trying to feed the right strength and right ratios of N-P-K, let alone trying to figure out trace nutrients and secondary nutrients.

For antiaging nutrients use as well. The Seventh Edition has been a major focus of molecular biology for more than 30 years, only recently have the direct roles of nutrients and their health benefits, acclaimed diet expert Dr. Atkins explains how vitamins, minerals, herbs, and other nutrient supplements can be used to combat 50 health conditions, including diabetes, arthritis, and osteoporosis. It explores the basic elements of biology and pathobiology of gene-nutrient interactions, focusing on mechanisms and biomarkers, and examines numerous examples in detail. Nutrient-Gene Interactions in Cancer focuses on the complex multi-functional relationship between nutrition and cancer development, including the role nutrients have in modulating cancer growth via interactions with specific genes, and the emerging new strategy for cancer chemoprevention based on a deepened understanding of this relationship. These examples describe nuclear receptors, transcription factors, and signaling cascades; nitric oxide; chromatin structure; amino acids, lipids, and glycation; calcium dependent signaling; feeding and nutrient management.
